A Peek into my Pottery Process
Preparing for a pop up and getting back into the flow of things at the ceramic studio
Pottery has always been one of my favorite creative outlets. There's something about working with clay and getting my hands messy that challenges my creativity and also gives me so much peace. Recently, I’ve been getting back into the flow in the pottery studio after some travel and it feels amazing to be back and get my creative juices flowing again!
I’m excited to share a glimpse into my process as I spend some time throwing on the wheel and sharing some pieces I’ve created that I’ll be sharing at an upcoming pop-up!
I think what I love most about the process is that each step requires patience and intention, whether that is throwing, handbuilding, trimming, or glazing. It’s all about the journey, and oftentimes there are mistakes in the process, and I’ve learned to accept that it’s okay if that happens.
And now looking at my pieces, I see how perfectly imperfect they are, and I think that’s what makes them pretty unique and special. You can see that each piece is handmade—the throwing lines, the little dents and marks, and places where glaze pooled more in one area of the piece. It’s all about these quirks that make each piece so special as it gives it so much character, and that’s what I love the most.
If you’re local, visit the pop-up and check out the pieces in person! For now, enjoy this behind-the-scenes look at the studio and what goes into creating each piece.
